It's All Greek to Me...Or as we say in Greece: "This strikes me as Chinese". Confused? Welcome to the AllGreekToMe Club!
what is aLL GREEK TO ME ABOUT?

That's Greek to me or It's (all) Greek to me is an idiom/dead metaphor in English, expressing that something is not understandable.
The idiom is typically used with respect to the foreign nature, complexity or imprecision of verbal or written expression or diagram, often containing excessive use of jargon, dialect, mathematics, science, symbols, or diagrams. The metaphor makes reference to Greek (either ancient or modern), as an archetypal foreign form of communication both written and spoken.
But some of you know, and the rest of you feel, that "AllGreekToMe" is going to be so much more than just an informative, yes, but sterile and soulless dictionary definition...
So it is without further ado that I am inviting You to embark with me on this exciting and interesting journey of (self)-discovery, at the end of which, I hope, we will both finally arrive to the shores of (a basic) understanding and reach the safe port of (some) comprehension on the multihotomy of Greekness.
Call it, if you will, an Odysey through unchartered waters, a return to a long-lost but not forgoten Ithaka, a blind-folded wonder through the crazy labyrinth that is modern Greece, a dive through it's battered and squashed layered cake of society and its utterly confused-and confusing-sence of identity, scope and purpose.
I need You with me as an active audience in a panto, shouting to me warnings of "it's behind you", I need You as a compass of sanity in this maddening storm I am in, I need You as my fellow traveller who can help me understand and (with the help of Gods) repair the damage on this sinking ship.
Since this is Greece in trouble we are talking about, the simile could only be that of a Ship, (I know some of You may be protesting of how it could also be that of the Sun, the Sea, the Retsina or that indeed of any other superficial and stereotypical image You have engraved in the memory bank of your brain from hollidays past), but this will only serve to spoil the drama of my simile and, in any case, you should know by now, you can't have Greek without drama.
Let it sink - may say some of you - but this I can't do. Not because I like the look of this ugly wreck of a ship, with it's stinking rotten wooden carcass, it's brocken masts, the torn sails and flags sailing rudderless through the centuries with it's rusty anchor of a glorious past helplessly dragging behind, but because I refuse to let it sink in my watch, not after all it, (and I), have been through. It is after all my ship and, (if you can keep a secret and you are willing to help), I am planning a mutiny. I need You with me.
But I am not Greek, you may mutter in vain. Well let explain something to You, let me start gently, with lesson Nουμερο 1, To be Greek it is first and foremost, an altitude thing.
And this is why you qualify, this is why you are drafted - You are, after all, AllGreekToMe!
